Boat Rental FAQ
Boat FAQs — Rocks & Docks Adventure Rentals
Everything you need to know before spending the day on Grand Lake.
Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome, but boat rentals on Grand Lake book quickly — especially on weekends and holidays. We strongly recommend reserving in advance online or by calling 918-937-9378.
How old do I have to be to rent a boat?
The primary renter and boat operator must be 21 years or older and have a valid driver’s license, which must be presented at check-in.
Do I need boating experience?
No prior experience is required. Before departure, our staff will review basic boat operation, safety equipment, and important lake rules to make sure you feel comfortable and confident.
Do you offer captained boat rentals?
Yes! We offer Custom Boat Charters for guests who prefer a relaxed, guided experience with a captain.
To inquire, please fill out our Contact Form or call 918-937-9378.
What time should we arrive?
Please arrive 30 minutes before your reservation to complete waivers, check-in, and your safety orientation.
Do all passengers need a waiver — even kids?
Yes! Everyone on board, including children, must have a signed waiver before departure. Completing waivers ahead of time helps get you on the water faster.
What should we bring?
We recommend bringing:
- Sunscreen
- Towels
- Water and snacks
- Sunglasses & hats
- Phone charger & dry bag
- Your favorite lake playlist
Life vests are provided.
Do you provide life jackets?
Yes. Rocks & Docks provides all required life vests.
Children 12 and under are required by Oklahoma law to wear a USCG-approved life jacket while underway. We recommend bringing your child’s own vest for the best fit and comfort.
How does fuel work?
All boats go out with a full tank. At the end of your rental, you can:
- Prepay for fuel (we refuel for you for a $30 convenience fee + fuel cost), or
- Refuel yourself at Cedar Port Marina before returning the boat.
What happens if we run out of fuel on the lake?
Guests are responsible for monitoring fuel levels. If assistance is required due to running out of fuel, towing or service fees may apply.
What happens if we are late returning the boat?
Boats must be returned by the scheduled end time. Late returns will result in additional charges.
What if the weather turns bad?
Rocks & Docks operates rain or shine, and light rain does not automatically cancel a rental.
However, safety is always our top priority. In the event of severe weather (such as high winds, lightning, or dangerous lake conditions), Rocks & Docks reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a rental. These situations are handled on a case-by-case basis with guest safety in mind.
Can we swim or anchor the boat?
Yes! Swimming and anchoring are allowed in approved areas. Always be mindful of water depth, boat traffic, and local lake rules.
Are dogs allowed on the boat?
Yes! Dogs are welcome on our boat rentals.
- There is a $25 fee per dog, per rental.
- Renters are responsible for cleaning up after their pet.
- Any damage to seats, flooring, or upholstery caused by pets is the renter’s responsibility.
- Boats are thoroughly inspected before and after each rental.
We love lake pups — just help us keep the boats in great shape for everyone.
Can we pull tubes or tow skiers?
Yes! Tubing and watersports are allowed on our boats.
We offer tubes and watersports equipment as add-ons at checkout, so be sure to select what you need when booking. Our staff will go over proper use and safety guidelines during check-in to make sure you’re set up for a fun and safe day on the water.
Can we bring alcohol on the boat?
Passengers may bring alcohol on board; however, the boat operator may not consume alcohol at any time.
Guests are responsible for knowing and following all Oklahoma state laws and GRDA (Grand River Dam Authority) regulations while on the water.
Glass bottles are not permitted on our boats.
Failure to follow applicable laws or regulations may result in termination of the rental without refund.
Can we dock at restaurants or marinas?
Yes, as long as the dock is public or you have permission. Please do not dock at private docks without authorization.
Can we beach the boat or pull up on shore?
No. Beaching is not allowed.
Due to Grand Lake’s rocky shoreline, beaching the boat can easily cause damage to the hull, prop, or lower unit. Boats must be properly anchored or docked when stopping. Damage caused by beaching will be the renter’s responsibility.
Where can we go on the lake?
You may explore approved boating areas on Grand Lake. Our crew will provide navigation tips and suggested routes based on your plans for the day.
Do the boats have shade?
Yes. All boats are equipped with a shade canopy (Bimini top) to help keep you comfortable during your day on the lake.
Is there Bluetooth or a sound system on the boat?
Yes — most boats are equipped with Bluetooth audio so you can enjoy your favorite music while cruising the lake.
Do you offer multi-day boat rentals?
Yes! Multi-day rentals are available depending on availability. Contact us directly to arrange longer rentals.
What happens if the boat is damaged?
The renter is responsible for any damage, regardless of who was operating the boat. The card on file will be charged for repair costs if damage occurs.
What should we do if there’s an accident or damage?
For injuries or emergencies, call 911 immediately.
For damage or non-emergency issues, call Rocks & Docks at 918-937-9378.
